Weight: 133 lbs again (I guess I have hit my plateau) Exercise: 1 hour weight/resistance training + 3 mile tempo run Cost: $14 How I feel generally: Really, really tired (food coma? pizza coma?) (note: I wrote this just before going to bed; I wasn't tired the whole day) How my tummy feels: Really, really full but not bloated exactly. Just a food baby. Extras: One coffee, one Kashi granola bar, one stroopwafel (given to me by a labmate who went to the Netherlands), a tiny cup of homemade kombucha (given to me by the same labmate), and one UNICORN FRAPPUCCINO!!! I think I may have hit snooze about 10 times this morning. I am not sure if I was lethargic because of the pizza or because of the late-night soccer game last night. Either way, getting up this morning was ROUGH. I worked out with a couple of my triathlon teammates at the gym and that was also rough. Then I tried to do my scheduled tempo run afterwards (it's supposed to be a prolonged challenging pace) and ... well, let's just say I did go a tempo. A slow tempo. After working out, I tried that new Starbucks unicorn frappuccino. I hate myself for trying it but I couldn't resist. It was weird but I kind of liked it. That increased my daily cost a lot though. So expensive! Work was work and then I went to the same restaurant as last week, Blaze Pizza, with some friends for dinner. I love that place. Even my dear friend that hates cheese is able to build a pizza that she likes (sans cheese of course). This time I got a build-your-own pizza with regular pizza sauce, mozzarella and parmesan, spinach, tomatoes, kalamata olives, banana peppers, vegetarian popcorn "chick'n" (the crouton looking things), and zucchini. It was really good except for the weird vegetarian popcorn "chick'n." People keep asking me if I'm tired of pizza yet, but so far I'm not. In fact, I still look forward to eating it!

Weight: didn't weigh Exercise: 1 hour swim practice, ~75 minutes of a soccer game (11 v 11, midfield) Cost: $0 How I feel generally: Okay pizza-wise but soccer hurts mah body How my tummy feels: Burpy Extras: One coffee, one Kashi granola bar, some small chocolate samples (perks of working in a sensory lab) Today was my second homemade pizza adventure. I basically tried to use up everything I had as toppings (does that qualify as a kitchen sink pizza?)... First I brushed both crusts with sage-infused olive oil. One of them had regular pizza sauce with mushrooms, bell pepper, mozzarella, and a little parmesan. The other had a pesto base (basil, oil, garlic, parmesan) with a layer of mashed white sweet potato, topped with chickpeas and parmesan. It seems a little weird but it turned out delicious! I had two white sweet potatoes to use up so I thought to myself, better put them on a pizza. That pizza was a little sweet from the basil and white sweet potato, but that combination with the herb, garlic, and parmesan made it yummy. I didn't have anything else today besides a granola bar and some chocolate that my labmate gave me, leftover from a chocolate tasting. Extras: One Peet's cafe au lait, Kashi granola bar, strawberry smoothie It was raining. Again. I think the salad I ate yesterday made me feel a lot better. I guess that was my cheat day? Lol. I got a lot of work done and I had a great workout, so I would say it's been a pretty great day. Also, I've never tried California Pizza Kitchen's frozen pizzas but this one was delicious! I might have to get it again. I think now that I've been on the pizza diet for a full week, I may start sharing my blog more. Slice Count: 5 (5 take-n-bake BBQ chicken slices, bread and cheese)

I ate bread and cheese at a social gathering. That's pizza, right? That's how I justified it. It was an Easter get-together and I wanted to try all of the cheese! Happy Easter! Here's a picture of the best part of a chocolate bunny. I didn't purchase it though. They're trying to get away with selling you just the ears for the price of a whole bunny. Don't fall for it! How my tummy feels: BLOATED Extras: One coffee, one apple, celery with peanut butter, banana-peach smoothie I woke up with no pizza in stock, so after triathlon practice, I went to Nugget (grocery store) and stocked up a little more on pizza items. I got a couple of California Pizza Kitchen frozen pizzas, a take-n-bake BBQ chicken pizza, and some crusts to go with the other items I have for making homemade pizza. Then I ended up going to lunch with a couple of friends at Uncle Vito's, so I didn't need any of that stuff yet. It's a pizza place downtown that serves huge slices, beer, and shows sports games. I tried out the Slice of the Day, Fuji apple, a white pizza with apple, spinach, and feta cheese. It was delicious, but it was $5 per slice! Not sure if it was THAT good. I definitely am not going to be able to do this month cheaply - I need a variety of pizzas to keep me sane. Exercise: Long run day for half-marathon training (10 miles) Cost: $3.50 How I feel generally: Kind of exhausted, probably because of the long run How my tummy feels: Nothing to report here Extras: One coffee, Kashi granola bar, celery with peanut butter, chocolate milk I got to have the dessert pizza for breakfast with my coffee today, along with a slice of the normal homemade pizza. Today I finally purchased my first road bike so I'm ready to start the triathlon training season. I also did my long run today so I decided to get a heftier slice of pizza from Village Bakery, a delicious pizza spot in town, and I washed it down with some chocolate milk. It has been five days now of straight pizza and I feel perfectly normal. I don't even think this is a record for number of consecutive days eating pizza for me. I was surprised that I had lost 2 lbs, although that might just be weight fluctuation. By the way, I saw the movie "The Zookeeper's Wife" today and you should totally go see it if you want to cry. I'm beginning to wonder if this is because I've gotten a good night's sleep every night this week! Maybe pizza helps me sleep :) How my tummy feels: A little indigestion, but I won't go into details Extras: One coffee, two bananas, one apple I woke up this morning and wished I could eat something sweet. I never really thought about it, but I usually have something sweet for breakfast, like cereal, toast with jam, or a pastry, so it was getting weird having savory pizza every morning. Even if I do have eggs at breakfast, I usually have something sweet too. Sweet things just go better with coffee! Therefore, I decided to make my first dessert pizza of the month. This way, perhaps I can have a slice of that for breakfast sometimes. I was super hungry this afternoon before triathlon practice, so I may have overdone it a little this evening. I had dinner at Blaze Pizza with a friend, so I changed it up a little and got BBQ chicken. They serve wood-fired personal pizzas, and I ate the whole thing. For dessert, I got to try a sliver of the Easter candy dessert pizza (I promise I didn't have too much!) Slice Count: 7 (medium, homemade)... SEVEN AGAIN!
Weight: 134 lbs Exercise: 4 mile run + 1 hour strength/calisthenics training in the gym Cost: $0 How I feel generally: Pretty good How my tummy feels: Normal but slightly bloated in the evening Extras: One coffee, one apple, two bananas. celery with peanut butter I made two pizzas last night to meal prep for today and tomorrow. I was feeling the lack of vegetables so I tried to include a lot of vegetables. They had mushrooms, bell pepper, spinach, mozzarella, and normal pizza sauce (I like Ragu). One of them also had egg on it (omelette pizza). YUM. It was also nice to have some fruits and veggies to snack on today. I am usually not very eager to eat fruit as a snack, but I guess this high pizza intake is driving me towards fruit. Interesting how that works. How my tummy feels: I had a couple of pizza-flavored burps. Other than that, I feel perfectly normal! Extras: One coffee, one Kashi granola bar, handful of baby carrots, a handful of unsalted saltine crackers, and a glass of milk. People are already catching on to my pizza diet and making pizza plans with me :) I'm loving the support. Weight: 135 lbs Blood Pressure: 114/78 Body Fat Percentage: 23.31% (this is in the Ideal Range for women) Exercise: 4 mile run, 1 hour zumba class Cost: $18.41 How I feel generally: Fine so far. How my tummy feels: Great! A little hungry to be honest. What is wrong with me? I just ate pizza all day and I'm still hungry. Lol. Extras: One grande Starbucks flat white, one cake pop, one cocktail, one pack of Scooby fruit snacks. Last night (Sunday) I got a Papa John's double play, two medium two-topping pizzas. I got olives and jalapenos on one, and green pepper and mushroom on the other. I thought I was going to be able to do this month of pizza without spending much dough (ha! that was cheesy -okay, I can't stop), but after just one day, I'm beginning to think this might get expensive. I plan to tally it up and compare it to my food costs of other months. I am not including the Starbucks and cocktail costs because a gift card and a friend paid for those, respectively. It was a treat-yo'self kind of day after finishing my most recent phase of research. I wanted to lay out some ground rules. The plan is to eat pizza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, every day, for one month. I am supplementing this with whatever fruit, salads, beverages, or snacks I want. I'm not going to restrict the extras. Those extras will be listed each day, along with the slice count, my exercise, cost, how I feel generally, and how my tummy feels. I am also not going to change my exercise and training. The term "pizza" can encompass many things, and I plan to eat it in a variety of forms: restaurant, fast food, homemade, flatbread, thin crust, thick crust, breakfast pizza, dessert pizza, etc. Join me on my pizza journey! |
