Slice Count: 8 (2 medium Domino's slices + 1 medium slice from Village Bakery + 2 small slices s'mores dessert cookie pizza + 3 personal pizza slices of vegetarian Paesano's pizza)
Weight: did not weigh Exercise: 2 hours hiking at Lake Berryessa Cost: $14.98 How I feel generally: Pretty good! The weather is finally getting gorgeous again after 4 months of rain. How my tummy feels: a little discomfort (I think my stomach forgot how to handle fruit) Extras: Two coffees, one Clif nut butter bar, one banana, some strawberries, one blood orange margarita My poor dad has kind of been following the pizza diet too since he's visiting and we've been eating together every meal. At least when we go to a restaurant, he can order something else, or at home, he can eat cereal for breakfast. Otherwise, all I have to offer is leftover pizza. Sorry, Dad! We went on a hike this morning (I fueled up on dessert pizza with fruit for breakfast) and then had leftover pizza for lunch. I worked in lab the rest of the day and then we went to Paesano's again for dinner. I couldn't help it, I had really wanted the vegetarian pizza and this time I was allowed to have a drink (I couldn't yesterday because I had triathlon practice). All in all, a good day :D

Slice Count: 8 (2 medium Domino's slices + 5 medium pizza slices from Paesano's +1 slice s'mores dessert cookie pizza)
Weight: did not weigh Exercise: 1 hour of cycling and running intervals with push-ups in between Cost: $24.98 How I feel generally: Good How my tummy feels: full and a little indigestion Extras: One coffee, one banana, some strawberries, one Clif nut butter bar Dad's in town! Woohoo! I spent the morning cleaning and working after an interview and pizza for breakfast. My dad and I went to lunch at Paesano's, a yummy Italian restaurant in town. I got the brussels sprouts and pancetta pizza, my first white pizza of the month, with olive oil, garlic, fresh mozzarella, and lemon gremolata (herbs and such). It was SO GOOD. One of the best this month. I would never have thought to put brussels sprouts on a pizza, but they were cooked really well (browned a little) and it added so much flavor. This evening after practice, we ate some leftovers and I made another dessert pizza, a s'mores cookie pizza. It had a plain (sugar) cookie crust, which I baked first. Then I let it cool and spread Nutella on it, and topped it with Golden Grahams and mini marshmallows, and baked it a few more minutes to brown the marshmallows. At the end, I drizzled it with chocolate sauce and sweetened condensed milk. I liked this one much better than the other dessert pizza. There was more of a variety of flavor in it; it wasn't just sweet. Slice Count: 10 (1 very large leftover Village bakery veggie slice + 4 medium Domino's slices + 6 personal pizza slices Blaze pizza) Weight: 133 lbs (maybe the scale I'm using is broken :-P) Exercise: 3 mile run + 30 minutes weight training + 70 minutes full-field soccer Cost: $8.95 How I feel generally: Great! I exercised way too much today because I completely forgot I had that soccer game in the evening... but I feel pretty good because I didn't do much yesterday. How my tummy feels: fine Extras: One coffee, one Panera cookie Oh my lanta, I had 10 slices today! Is that a new record? I think so. I ended up working at Panera in the afternoon, and since I was downtown I got Blaze pizza again. I did not plan well, because I still have so much pizza left over in my fridge. That's my third time at Blaze for this pizza month. Today's pizza had red sauce, fresh basil, mozzarella, feta, ham, banana pepper, cherry tomato, sauteed onions, and zucchini. I really liked the basil. Slice Count: 8 (1 very large leftover Village bakery veggie slice + 2 medium Domino's slices + 4 small slices of Village Bakery meat & veggie pizza, aka 2/3 of the pizza + 1 slice dessert pizza)
Weight: 135 lbs (different scale at the doctor) Blood Pressure: 121/58 (idk why the diastolic was lower than usual) Exercise: 20 minutes of swimming + lifting a very large rice cabinet and massive boxes of raw chicken for work (that counts as exercise, yeah?) Cost: $6.10 How I feel generally: Good but a little lightheaded/weird from the vaccines. That always happens to me. Still looking forward to pizza meals though, so that's good. My teammate pointed out to me that I kept saying I was tired in this section and I realize it's because I was always writing it just before going to bed, so of course I was tired. I'll try to give a better overview of how I felt the whole day. How my tummy feels: pretty good (maybe a little backed up from all the cheese - I take back what I said about regularity yesterday, although my friend with GI tract issues taught me that regularity is not referring to the frequency of bowel movements, but rather the consistency of bowel movements. There is your disgusting fact of the day) Extras: One coffee, one boba tea (oolong milk tea with pearls - yum), a sliver of my roommate's cake. Ahhh. April 25th. "Miss Rhode Island, describe your idea of a perfect date." "That's a tough one. I'd have to say April 25th. Because it's not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket!" - Miss Congeniality This morning I went to the doctor to get my vaccinations and medicine for the Nicaragua trip. They weighed me and took my blood pressure, so I recorded that above. My dear friend and labmate brought her famous lemon cookie in gigantic cookie form to make a fruit pizza this morning! It was a lemon cookie crust with a glaze, topped with kiwi. Gorgeous and delicious. I also ate leftover Village Bakery veggie pizza and the Domino's I ordered last night. In the evening, after triathlon practice, I went to Village Bakery pizza (the other location in Davis) with some of my soccer teammates. Slice Count: 6 (1 small Woodstocks slice + 1 very large Village bakery veggie slice + 4 medium Domino's slices)
Weight: 133 lbs (homeostasis is a magical thing) Exercise: 1.5 hours in the gym - resistance training and calisthenics, a little stair stepper Cost: $22.15 How I feel generally: A little sore from yesterday How my tummy feels: normal (I think the pizza diet really helps with my regularity) Extras: Two coffees My love for pizza has been revived! I got my appetite back after this weekend. I ordered a lot of pizza today so I have quite a bit left over. Also, I got a new PR for real chin-ups! I got nine. Yay! By real, I mean I extend my arms all the way at the bottom. Chin-ups are the ones where your palms are facing towards you. Pull-ups are when your palms face away from you, and I can only do 3-5 of those usually. I did some of those too today. I forgot to say that yesterday I got hit in the face in soccer yesterday (right in the nose). I was worried I wouldn't be able to taste my pizza, because olfaction is the majority of flavor (taste on your tongue is a much smaller component of flavor). I think my nose is fine though. You don't want to damage your olfactory receptors if you're a sensory scientist like me. I kind of need them! Slice Count: 6 (6 small pieces of Woodstocks)
Weight: n/a Exercise: 4.5ish mile run with a friend, 70 minutes of a full field soccer game at center mid Cost: $0 How I feel generally: A little stressed from work and life, but re-energized How my tummy feels: not that hungry after sitting around like a lump yesterday Extras: One coffee, one Asian pear, Kashi granola bar, miniature Boston creme pie that my roommate gave me, a sampling of the food I was serving for consumer testing (Pork carnitas arepas - I'm not going to feed them something without tasting it) I had energy again! I guess the "should-less' day worked. Today was busy once again. I was conducting consumer tests (taste tests) for research, so that took up most of the day. In the morning, I went for a run with my friend. The weather was super nice. In the evening, I had a soccer game with the team I usually play with on Sundays. In between, I did my consumer tests. I did try a little of the food because I wanted to see what I was serving the study participants, but I did stick to my pizza diet. I almost finished off the Woodstocks leftovers. I wasn't that hungry since I didn't really move yesterday. My hunger level is usually pretty sensitive to my activity level. Dare I say it? I am starting to get tired of pizza. It's been two weeks. The leftover pizza was ugly so I posted a photo of my roommate's birthday cake.
Slice Count: 7 (2 California Pizza Kitchen leftovers + 5 small Woodstocks slices) Weight: n/a Exercise: walking between the couch and the fridge Cost: $10 How I feel generally: more tired than I've been so far on the pizza diet. Almost achy tired. There is a cold going around and I think my body was trying to fight it off. How my tummy feels: Okay but *ahem* there was a lot of fiber in those berries Extras: One coffee, fruitcake (that's obviously not what it's called but it's the beautiful cake in the picture above), giant container of strawberries and blueberries Note: I ended up cutting all of the Woodstocks slices in half because it was a large pizza and they seemed huge. On Friday (yesterday), I had two full slices but the rest will be the "small" slices. Today was my "should-less" day. My friend just taught me this term. It means that you have a day with no obligations, or "shoulds." It was wonderful. I really, really needed it after that week. Plus, I think I may have been getting sick and my body needed to rest to fight it off. There has been a cold going around. My roommate fed me her birthday cake for breakfast, and it was amazing (pictured above). I couldn't resist that beautiful cake. I feel like it kind of looks like a deep-dish dessert pizza. No? Just me? My friend and I briefly made an appearance at UC Davis Picnic Day. I was feeling fruity so afterwards I went to Nugget Market and got a huge, overpriced cup of strawberries and blueberries and parked my tush on the couch the rest of the day and watched Parks and Recreation (and ate leftover pizza). Slice Count: 4 (1 medium leftover homemade + 1 medium California Pizza Kitchen pulled pork pizza with a black bean based sauce, cut into 6 slices + 2 slices Woodstocks half and half pizza)
Weight: 133 lbs (my body really likes this weight) Exercise: 1 hour in the gym Cost: $34 ($29 for Woodstocks + $5 at the restaurant Sauced for my cole slaw) How I feel generally: sad How my tummy feels: sad Extras: One coffee, slice of egg frittata, blueberry bagel, cole slaw, a couple of bites of friends' food at the restaurant Sauced Hey y'all. Sorry. This weekend was absolutely crazy. I received both really good and really bad personal news towards the end of the week, so it was a roller coaster ride. I did find out that I'm going to Nicaragua for work May 3-6 so I will have to pause the pizza diet. I don't know how much control I will have over what I eat there, so I will just resume the diet when I get back. Anyway, Friday was really, really hard to stick to the diet. I guess this just goes to show that all diets are hard to stick to, even pizza diets. I had a mentor breakfast in the morning, which is why I had the frittata and bagel. I didn't want to be rude! I didn't plan well so I didn't have time to have pizza beforehand and I was super hungry. FAIL. I also received some of the bad news Friday so I cut my workout short. Everything will be fine though. Then I had leftover pizza for lunch and I ordered Woodstocks pizza (http://woodstocksdavis.com, I love that place but it's expensive) for an early dinner because I had to go to my roommate/bestie's birthday celebration that evening and she didn't choose a place that served pizza. I got whole wheat half&half pizza which means you can choose two of their gourmet pizzas and put one on half of your pizza and the other on the other half. I chose one healthier option and one less healthy option that I'd been dying to try: one side was Grateful Veg, with zesty red sauce, mozzarella, olives, bell pepper, white onions, mushrooms, and fresh Roma tomatoes, and the other side was Bangers & Tots, with zesty red sauce, mozzarella, applewood smoked bacon, Italian sausage, red onions, and tater tots. No regrets! My friend's birthday dinner was TORTURE because we went to Sauced, a BBQ place in Sacramento with all of the Southern fixin's I'm used to, being from the South. I just watched everyone eat their various forms of meat while I sadly chewed on some cole slaw. It was the most depressing thing ever. I did get to try a few bites of things when everyone got full. I wasn't even hungry because I had pizza beforehand but it smelled OH SO GOOD. I haven't had the chance to update Friday and Saturday. I'll do it tomorrow. I am still eating pizza :)
Slice Count: 8 (5 medium homemade + 3 medium California Pizza Kitchen pulled pork pizza with a black bean based sauce)
Weight: I was at the gym but I forgot to weigh Exercise: 1 hour weight/resistance training + 14 miles on bike Cost: $0 How I feel generally: Unmotivated How my tummy feels: A little uneasy but that's because I'm lactose intolerant and I ate ice cream without a Lactaid pill on hand Extras: One coffee, 3 pieces of unidentifiable hors d'oeurvres, grapes, a handful of almonds, 1.5 beers, ice cream cone Wow, today was delicious but not very healthy. There was a scholarship ceremony which is where I ate all of the hors d'oeuvres, snacks, and ice cream. Oops. The beers happened afterwards when I went out with friends. Oops. I got home and I was so hungry so I had to bake an emergency frozen CPK pizza. This time it was a black bean based sauce, cheese, bell pepper, and pulled pork. It was yummy! |
