Slice Count: 6 (6 small pieces of Woodstocks)
Weight: n/a Exercise: 4.5ish mile run with a friend, 70 minutes of a full field soccer game at center mid Cost: $0 How I feel generally: A little stressed from work and life, but re-energized How my tummy feels: not that hungry after sitting around like a lump yesterday Extras: One coffee, one Asian pear, Kashi granola bar, miniature Boston creme pie that my roommate gave me, a sampling of the food I was serving for consumer testing (Pork carnitas arepas - I'm not going to feed them something without tasting it) I had energy again! I guess the "should-less' day worked. Today was busy once again. I was conducting consumer tests (taste tests) for research, so that took up most of the day. In the morning, I went for a run with my friend. The weather was super nice. In the evening, I had a soccer game with the team I usually play with on Sundays. In between, I did my consumer tests. I did try a little of the food because I wanted to see what I was serving the study participants, but I did stick to my pizza diet. I almost finished off the Woodstocks leftovers. I wasn't that hungry since I didn't really move yesterday. My hunger level is usually pretty sensitive to my activity level. Dare I say it? I am starting to get tired of pizza. It's been two weeks.

The leftover pizza was ugly so I posted a photo of my roommate's birthday cake.
Slice Count: 7 (2 California Pizza Kitchen leftovers + 5 small Woodstocks slices) Weight: n/a Exercise: walking between the couch and the fridge Cost: $10 How I feel generally: more tired than I've been so far on the pizza diet. Almost achy tired. There is a cold going around and I think my body was trying to fight it off. How my tummy feels: Okay but *ahem* there was a lot of fiber in those berries Extras: One coffee, fruitcake (that's obviously not what it's called but it's the beautiful cake in the picture above), giant container of strawberries and blueberries Note: I ended up cutting all of the Woodstocks slices in half because it was a large pizza and they seemed huge. On Friday (yesterday), I had two full slices but the rest will be the "small" slices. Today was my "should-less" day. My friend just taught me this term. It means that you have a day with no obligations, or "shoulds." It was wonderful. I really, really needed it after that week. Plus, I think I may have been getting sick and my body needed to rest to fight it off. There has been a cold going around. My roommate fed me her birthday cake for breakfast, and it was amazing (pictured above). I couldn't resist that beautiful cake. I feel like it kind of looks like a deep-dish dessert pizza. No? Just me? My friend and I briefly made an appearance at UC Davis Picnic Day. I was feeling fruity so afterwards I went to Nugget Market and got a huge, overpriced cup of strawberries and blueberries and parked my tush on the couch the rest of the day and watched Parks and Recreation (and ate leftover pizza). Slice Count: 4 (1 medium leftover homemade + 1 medium California Pizza Kitchen pulled pork pizza with a black bean based sauce, cut into 6 slices + 2 slices Woodstocks half and half pizza)
Weight: 133 lbs (my body really likes this weight) Exercise: 1 hour in the gym Cost: $34 ($29 for Woodstocks + $5 at the restaurant Sauced for my cole slaw) How I feel generally: sad How my tummy feels: sad Extras: One coffee, slice of egg frittata, blueberry bagel, cole slaw, a couple of bites of friends' food at the restaurant Sauced Hey y'all. Sorry. This weekend was absolutely crazy. I received both really good and really bad personal news towards the end of the week, so it was a roller coaster ride. I did find out that I'm going to Nicaragua for work May 3-6 so I will have to pause the pizza diet. I don't know how much control I will have over what I eat there, so I will just resume the diet when I get back. Anyway, Friday was really, really hard to stick to the diet. I guess this just goes to show that all diets are hard to stick to, even pizza diets. I had a mentor breakfast in the morning, which is why I had the frittata and bagel. I didn't want to be rude! I didn't plan well so I didn't have time to have pizza beforehand and I was super hungry. FAIL. I also received some of the bad news Friday so I cut my workout short. Everything will be fine though. Then I had leftover pizza for lunch and I ordered Woodstocks pizza (http://woodstocksdavis.com, I love that place but it's expensive) for an early dinner because I had to go to my roommate/bestie's birthday celebration that evening and she didn't choose a place that served pizza. I got whole wheat half&half pizza which means you can choose two of their gourmet pizzas and put one on half of your pizza and the other on the other half. I chose one healthier option and one less healthy option that I'd been dying to try: one side was Grateful Veg, with zesty red sauce, mozzarella, olives, bell pepper, white onions, mushrooms, and fresh Roma tomatoes, and the other side was Bangers & Tots, with zesty red sauce, mozzarella, applewood smoked bacon, Italian sausage, red onions, and tater tots. No regrets! My friend's birthday dinner was TORTURE because we went to Sauced, a BBQ place in Sacramento with all of the Southern fixin's I'm used to, being from the South. I just watched everyone eat their various forms of meat while I sadly chewed on some cole slaw. It was the most depressing thing ever. I did get to try a few bites of things when everyone got full. I wasn't even hungry because I had pizza beforehand but it smelled OH SO GOOD. Slice Count: 8 (5 medium homemade + 3 medium California Pizza Kitchen pulled pork pizza with a black bean based sauce)
Weight: I was at the gym but I forgot to weigh Exercise: 1 hour weight/resistance training + 14 miles on bike Cost: $0 How I feel generally: Unmotivated How my tummy feels: A little uneasy but that's because I'm lactose intolerant and I ate ice cream without a Lactaid pill on hand Extras: One coffee, 3 pieces of unidentifiable hors d'oeurvres, grapes, a handful of almonds, 1.5 beers, ice cream cone Wow, today was delicious but not very healthy. There was a scholarship ceremony which is where I ate all of the hors d'oeuvres, snacks, and ice cream. Oops. The beers happened afterwards when I went out with friends. Oops. I got home and I was so hungry so I had to bake an emergency frozen CPK pizza. This time it was a black bean based sauce, cheese, bell pepper, and pulled pork. It was yummy! Slice Count: 8 (8 medium homemade)
Weight: didn't weigh Exercise: 1 hour swim practice, ~75 minutes of a soccer game (11 v 11, midfield) Cost: $0 How I feel generally: Okay pizza-wise but soccer hurts mah body How my tummy feels: Burpy Extras: One coffee, one Kashi granola bar, some small chocolate samples (perks of working in a sensory lab) Today was my second homemade pizza adventure. I basically tried to use up everything I had as toppings (does that qualify as a kitchen sink pizza?)... First I brushed both crusts with sage-infused olive oil. One of them had regular pizza sauce with mushrooms, bell pepper, mozzarella, and a little parmesan. The other had a pesto base (basil, oil, garlic, parmesan) with a layer of mashed white sweet potato, topped with chickpeas and parmesan. It seems a little weird but it turned out delicious! I had two white sweet potatoes to use up so I thought to myself, better put them on a pizza. That pizza was a little sweet from the basil and white sweet potato, but that combination with the herb, garlic, and parmesan made it yummy. I didn't have anything else today besides a granola bar and some chocolate that my labmate gave me, leftover from a chocolate tasting. I love my job sometimes :) Slice Count: 7 (6 slices of thin crust California Pizza Kitchen frozen Mediterranean Veggie pizza, aka the whole pizza, one slice of dessert pizza - yes, I still have it)
Weight: 133 lbs Exercise: Bike-Run Interval workout + Strength training/calisthenics (1.5 hours total) Cost: $3.00 (Peet's) How I feel generally: Excited How my tummy feels: Fine! Extras: One Peet's cafe au lait, Kashi granola bar, strawberry smoothie It was raining. Again. I think the salad I ate yesterday made me feel a lot better. I guess that was my cheat day? Lol. I got a lot of work done and I had a great workout, so I would say it's been a pretty great day. Also, I've never tried California Pizza Kitchen's frozen pizzas but this one was delicious! I might have to get it again. I think now that I've been on the pizza diet for a full week, I may start sharing my blog more. |
